Older Homes in Sun City Need Special Attention
Sun City was built starting in 1960, which makes it one of the oldest planned retirement communities in the country. That history means most of the driveways, walkways, and patios here are original or were poured during early renovations in the 1970s and 1980s. Concrete from that era was often thinner, poured without adequate rebar, and did not have the benefit of modern mix designs. After 40 or 50 years in Arizona's heat, a lot of it is simply worn out.
