Every project we take starts with a proper site assessment. We look at the soil conditions, the existing drainage, any grade or slope issues, and the condition of any concrete we are connecting to or removing. We do not skip that step because skipping it is how concrete fails early.

Surprise's soil is a significant factor in every project we take. Much of the city sits on caliche, a hard calcium carbonate layer that forms naturally in arid soils. Caliche does not drain well and it can expand slightly with moisture changes. Driveways and patios that are not prepped for caliche conditions tend to crack and settle faster than they should. We know how to prepare the base properly for our local soil conditions.

Arizona's summer heat is the other major factor. Concrete poured in extreme heat can dry too fast on the surface, causing surface cracking and reduced strength. We plan our pours carefully, scheduling early morning starts in summer and protecting fresh concrete during the hottest hours. These are not optional steps. They are standard practice for us.
